Book Programme
Book Programme
Let’s Read and its predecessor organisation has, for over 20 years, been providing free books to the young people of Woking and in this period more than 40,000 have been distributed.
Providing books is a simple, effective and relatively inexpensive way to promote language growth.
Owning books is a critical feature of every child’s intellectual development.
Thanks to our supporters we currently are presenting nearly 600 books each term to year 2 children.
Currently we support eleven schools in Woking:
- Broadmere Community Primary School
- Kingfield Primary School
- Maybury Infant School
- New Monument Primary Academy
- Sythwood Primary School
- St.John’s Primary School, Knaphill
- Westfield Primary School
- Beaufort Primary School
- Barnsbury Primary School
- St Mary’s C of E Primary School
- Byfleet Primary School
Some of our young people do not own a book of their own at home!
What the children say
“I love reading my super duper books. I’ve five books to read at home now.”

“My favourite book was The Tiger who came to Tea. Thank you.”
“I couldn’t stop reading them. I kept reading them over and over and again.”
“I changed when I found books that I liked.”
