TRUSTEES
David Gunning
Director/Trustee
I am headteacher of a primary school and incredibly passionate about reading! I have seen first-hand how Let’s Read can help accelerate progress but more importantly, instil a love for reading. I hope to use my experience and enthusiasm to support the charity to continue making a difference to its schools and children.
Les Smith
Director/Trustee & Chair
On retiring, I got involved as a Let’s Read tutor and just love it. There is much satisfaction to be had from helping the children and a great sense of achievement when their reading ‘takes off’.
Linda Oswick
Director/Trustee
Having been involved in Let’s Read for a few years as a Volunteer Tutor I have come to understand the value of 1:1 participation helping young children who are experiencing difficulty with learning to read and write. I am very happy to become a Trustee of the charity and I am keen to help in any way I can to strengthen our ties with local schools, especially after the disruption children have had due to the pandemic.
Jean Hassell
Director/Trustee & Company Secretary
After retiring from full time work specialising in dispute resolution, I was persuaded seven years ago by a friend and Let’s Read Tutor to join the team. I have enjoyed every minute. It is very special to spend an hour a week with the same child helping them to develop their reading skills, but also to contribute to their holistic development and watching their progress over the course of the year. It is a privilege to be a Director and Trustee and I hope to bring some of my experience as a Tutor to the development of the charity.
Bob Ilett
Director/Trustee
I spent some time as a primary school governor a few years ago. When I was given the opportunity to become involved in Let’s Read I was delighted to accept and am looking forward to helping as a trustee of the charity. As I approach retirement, I hope also to assist as a tutor at one of the area primary schools. The charity is an invaluable asset to the children of the local community, and I hope to remain an active contributor for many years.
